Ernest 'Lynn' Mitchell, 80, of Pueblo, passed away at home on November, 3, 2015 after a long illness. He will be laid to rest next to his loving wife, Marilyn Kay Mitchell, at Payson Cemetery in Utah. Visitation, 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel.
Lynn, born on May 29, 1935 to Ernest Winward and Nora Mitchell of Birdseye, Utah, was the oldest son of six children. He was born to a ranching family, where he learned the value of hard work, and to appreciate the natural world. He attended Spanish Fork High, and graduated Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in range management. He married Marilyn, his childhood sweetheart, on Dec. 3, 1953, and they had four sons: Bradley Lynn, Steven Troy, David Wayne, and Phillip Shane. Lynn joined the U.S. Forest Service and served at multiple posts throughout the west and northwest. Upon retirement, he was a security coordinator for Atlantic Richfield, and taught first aid for the American Red Cross.
Lynn was an avid outdoorsman and a skilled marksman, who will be remembered for his kindness and dedication to service. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and is survived by his four sons and six grandchildren. What a wonderful man. Working with lynn at the american red cross was a joy. He loved teaching his students how to help others. He was good at making you laugh and always had a smile. He will be missed more than words can say. May his family always remember his love for them and his fellow man.
