Dorothy M. Courney, 98, passed away Sept. 30, 2023. Survived by her children, William R. Courney (Beverly), Gail Burr, Michael J. Courney (Inez) and Katherine C. Courney (Eric); grandchildren, Sally Owens (Richard), Lisa Cordova (Antonio), Donna Lewis (Cody), Patrick Bustamante (Vickie), Veronica Bingen (Brian) and Dawn Bustamante (Robert); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, William E. Courney; parents, G. Arthur and Selma Getz; daughter, Susan M. Payton; and granddaughter, Bonnie Hutson.
Dorothy was born February 7, 1925, in Monte Vista, Colorado. In addition to being a homemaker, she sold Avon for 36 years. Dorothy’s great joy was spending time with family. She loved going to the Sand Dunes National Park and the mountains. She also loved dogs and had more than one rescue dog.
Dorothy was the sweetest, kindest person ever. Her 5 children were blessed to have the best mother they could have asked for.
