Born in:
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Resided in:
Pueblo, Colorado
Cody Lamar Reist was born on June 21, 2002, to Earl and Crystal (Kane) Reist. A true all-American country boy, Cody lived a life rooted in simplicity, family, and the great outdoors.
From a young age, Cody could be found farming, riding horses, and spending time with his older brothers and his dog, Daisy. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and never turned down an opportunity to be in nature. Quiet by nature, Cody was not a man of many words, but his ever-present smile and willingness to lend a hand spoke volumes about the kind-hearted person he was.
After graduating from high school, Cody followed in his family’s hardworking footsteps and began his career in the hay, farming, and ranching industries. He ended his career as his brother Clay’s top ranch hand.
Cody was happiest living the simple life—surrounded by his family, the land he loved, and the peaceful rhythm of rural living. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edmond Reist and Richard Kane, both of whom were so proud of Cody and his brothers.
Survivors include his parents, Earl and Crystal Reist of Fountain, Colorado; his five brothers, Timothy (Naomi) Reist of Garden City, Kansas, Stacy (Amy) Reist of Ingalls, Kansas, Cole Reist, Clay Reist, and Cordell Reist, all of Fountain, Colorado; his maternal grandmother, Tomma Kane; his paternal grandmother Charlotte Newman of Syracuse, Kansas and his nieces and nephews: Kirsten, Abbie, Max, Ethan, and Katherine. He is also survived by several uncles, an aunt, cousins, and many cherished family members and friends.
A celebration of Cody’s life was held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, where he was laid to rest in a private cemetery surrounded by family and friends. The calm morning, open skies, and mountain views that day reflected Cody’s quiet spirit and the peace he brought to those around him.

– [ ] Words cannot describe how the pain of losing Cody has affected us. There is a hole in our hearts, our family and our daily routine. Nothing will ever be the same again without Cody. He was always just here and we must have taken that for granted. He never asked for anything or wanted anything but was always the one available to help us all. Only God knew his heart. He is with his Grandpa now and in God’s hands. I will always love and miss him till I see him again. ❤️
What I really want to say is…
I WANT HIM BACK!
