Guestbook

  1. Mr. Hearing was my professor at USC, what an impact he made on my life! You “dirty birds”. Rest in peace

  2. Mary Lou and family,
I’m sorry about your loss. Sending you prayers, and peace.
    Sincerely,
    Marcia Spinuzzi

    • CandleImageCharles Hearing was an exemplary educator and coach, whom I had the incredible good fortune to know in my lifetime. His leadership was uncompromising, but he garnered the utmost respect for his ability to relate to his students and players. I shall never forget him.

  3. I was a proud member of Coach Haering’s friggin birds. I have great memories of road trips traveling to XC meets to include the NAIA championships in Wisconsin. Coach Haering was kind, supportive and funny. He instilled confidence in his athletes and made every one of us feel like family. I feel lucky to have had him even for a short time in my life. I am sorry for your loss.

  4. Coach Haering was one of my favorite coaches. I just “fell into” the Cross Country and Track teams as I really was a basketball and volleyball player. Some of my best memories are being on his teams from 1988-1990. He always had great stories and inspirational quotes. I wish I would have stayed more in touch, but life seems to happen. I was blessed to have Coach Haering as a mentor and coach and to be one of his “friggin’ birds.” To his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You are a beautiful family and his memorial service was beautiful. 🐦

  5. Hearing family,

I’m so sorry for your loss.

Some of my dearest memories are of playing football for Coach Mark Haering and Coach Chuck. Looking back now, I realize the positive impact and valuable traits they helped instill in me, and countless other young men that were lucky enough to come through their program.

    God bless,

    Matt Taibi

  6. I’m sad to see this “bird” take flight, but I’m thankful he has broken out of the pain he was in. I’m sorry I didn’t make it to the service. Growing up, I always knew that I had a safety net of coaching/teacher and other famiily friends, who would help me in any way possible, if I needed it. Your family is such a family. I will always remember our many Thanksgivings at your home. I love all of you.

  7. Haering Family, I am so sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing coach with all of us. He truly was an incredible man. He called me Billy, I was the captain of our 1987 National qualifying cross country team. I still remember the day almost 40 years ago that he came to Doherty High School to recruit me. My life changed forever that day. That’s when I became a Friggin Bird. I still have every hand written letter coach ever sent me. Each week he gave us a motivational quote, I still have my binder with each one of those quotes. Just like everyone he came in contact with, I have so many memories and stories. To me he will always be Coach but he was so much more than a coach, he was a friend. Thank you and Love you coach, RIP.

  8. There are some people that you are lucky enough to have in your lives. Coach was one of those people. He was my coach in High School kept me in line and remained in my life in various ways(Jim) Coach Haering was my teacher at USC in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I was a student in my 3o’s, that had gone back to college after being married, now a mom who wanted to be a PE teacher. I made it with Chucks support, kindness, and just the fact that he knew I could do it. Just a good guy.(Sharon) We both will remember him with love and many good memories

  9. I want to share my deepest condolences to the family. I honestly feel like a part of me has passed in Coach’s passing. I last talked with him at Don Stutters funeral. Both of these men had such an influence on my life. Chuck you always treated the Yonks brothers with great affection as I am sure everyone felt. Big Yonks is going to miss you friend!!

  10. To the entire Haering family,

The world lost a one of a kind in Chuckie,

He was truly a man of strong faith, family, integrity & honesty. A man who set an example for those he touched in his lifetime to follow. He will be missed by so many and forever live in our hearts.

We are praying that the Lord will comfort you during this time.

    With love,

    Michael, Isabella and Julianna

  11. Haering Family:

I am truly sorry and saddened to hear of the passing of Coach Haering. Although mere words are of little comfort, please try and find solace in shared love and memories.

Coach’s immediate family legacy is remarkable and will continue to honor and impress. Yet, his influential legacy expands exponentially by all those who were fortunate enough to call him “Coach”.

Aside from my own Father, Coach Haering is as fine and inspirational a man as I have ever known. I count myself among the blessed to have had “Coach” in my life.

    Continued thoughts and prayers…

    Richard LeDoux

  12. Our deepest condolences to Mary Lou and the entire Haering family. Chuck provided a great example of leadership and responsibility as he was always there for the South HS football team during Mark’s tenure. We are thankful for his part in our son Mike’s life as he uses these skills daily in his business and personal life.

  13. Mary Lou, Mary Beth, Chris, Mark and Family,

So saddened by Coach H’s passing. He was a man of great faith, which he exhibited in the way he lived his life. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. When we would talk about the family he was so filled with joy.

I will always be grateful to him for how he shaped my life, both personally and athletically. He was a voice of reason and inspiration.

    Gods comfort, peace and love.

    Dave Shaddy

  14. Always….
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
The day He called your name.
    You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.

May God hold your family close and trust in his work.

  15. So sorry to hear this. The coaching profession has lost a star. He was so respected & admired. My heart goes out to the entire Haering family.
    RIP, my good friend.

  16. Dear Mark and Georgiann,

My deepest regrets over the loss of your father.
    God Bless!!
    David Mihalick

  17. To the Haering family
Thank you so much for sharing your husband and father with me and the many students and athletes that he impacted throughout his career. I was fortunate to know Coach from a number of perspectives first as his athlete, then as his assistant coach, his mentee and last of all as his friend. Coach was the most principled person I have ever known. He was an anchor in my life and a person you knew you could count on to be exactly who he said he was (or as he put it, I’m old, I’m decrepit and I ain’t gonna change). Outside of my parents Coach Haering was the most influential person in my life. Here’s to a life well lived-he is already missed but will long be remembered in the many stories that his athletes, friends and family tell.
    Sam Hume

  18. In all my years involved with athletics, Chuck Haering ranks No. 1 on my list of the most positive individuals I ever met. He always looked for the best in everyone. I always respected him for his honesty, enthusiasm and loyalty. Whenever our paths crossed at CSU Pueblo functions, Coach Haering was always upbeat and supportive. RIP, my friend. Tim Simmons

  19. Mrs. Haering, Mary Beth, Chris & Mark –

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband/dad. He was a wonderful man and so devoted to his wonderful family. My heart breaks for your loss. I hope you find comfort in all the memories you made as a family. I will keep your family in my prayers.

    Carrie (Connell) Molson

  20. Mary Lou and family,
So sorry for your great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
    Sincerely,
    Brandon Snyder (your
    former student Mary Lou)
    and his mom Sue Snyder

  21. Mary Lou and family, you have lost a tremendous person in your life. Working with Chuck at USC-Pueblo was a memorable time of my life. He was so dedicated to his job and the kids he coached. He was always there for any of us when we needed anything. And, I will never forgive him and Spank Blasing for what they did to my car the night of my wedding reception. The days when we were all one big family at USC Athletics are some of my fondest memories. God has called home a wonderful person. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

  22. Dear Haering Family,
My thoughts are with you all. Coach was special to me, he was always there for me during college athletics and during a really difficult time when my Dad passed. I will never forget his positivity and support. I was blessed to know him.

  23. To the Haering family my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Coach, Chuck, what an inspirational coach, mentor, and person. May you rest in peace. Coach Miller.

  24. Dear Mary Lou, Mary Beth, Chris and Mark,
it was a true blessing to have had Chuck in my life. I first met you all the 1969 summer before my freshman year at Western State. Chuck designed my weight workout preparing me for my first college football season. While Mark was then a newborn infant, Mary Beth and Chris accompanied Chuck to the gym. I fondly remember both bench pressing 5 pound dumbbells for their workouts. Since then I’ve been blessed to have all of the Haering family in my life. Chuck was one of three coaches (with Gary Richardson and Dick Newman) who molded a sterling model for the coach and teacher I became. RIP Chuck.

  25. Mary Lou and Family,
Our sincere condolences for your loss. We are honored to have watched the positive impact Chuck had on so many young people Including our sons, “Little Caesar and Crazy Bread”. We also had the privilege of seeing Chuck regularly support St. Therese by giving his time so freely to our church. The city of Pueblo was a better with Chuck in it. He will be truly missed.

  26. What a great neighbor to have growing up on Oxford street. Thoughts and prayers to MaryLou, MaryBeth, Chris and Mark and all the family.

  27. Coach is going to be missed greatly. From the cool football films after catechism to the best ice packs after an injury. I was privileged to have grown up in a neighborhood full of wonderful neighbors. God bless MaryLou, MaryBeth, Chris and Mark and all the family.

  28. Mary Lou, and Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

    Tammy & Brian Snyder

  29. Coach Haering was more than a coach to all of his student-athletes. He was, indeed, a father-figure to us all. He cared about what we did on and off the track. He pushed us all to be the best “people” that we could be. His dedication to his student-athletes, his family and most importantly to God was most admirable. He has made such a positive impact on my life that I am so grateful for- no doubt. I am proud to be one of his “friggin’ birds.” RIP Coach Haering.

    • I can’t thank Coach Haering for giving me the opportunity to run XC and Track for USC for three years (1987-89). I was stationed at the AFA (my wife was in the AF), and commuted everyday to run for Coach Haering. I was the “Old Man” per se. I was very fortunate to have great teammates and Coach Haering behind the helm. I participated in two XC National Championships and one Track/Field National Championship (which I participated in the Marathon). I have fond memories and will never for it. What I do regret? Not staying in contact with Coach Haering. BUT, I did think about you a lot. I will never forget you. To Coach Haering’s family and friends, my deepest condolences. God Bless. Rest easy Coach! I love you.

  30. Coach Haering was a great man and I am honored to spend 4 years with him as my coach. He was a father figure to me. His lessons, dedication, discipline and friendship was at the highest level. I’ll never forget his jokes, nicknames, lingo and kindness. ..and he was the toughest SOB I’ve ever met! I’ve always tried to be more like him and he has been a big part in who I am today. We will all miss him greatly. Rest in peace, coach. You will forever be in my heart and mind.

  31. In 1985 I was introduced to Coach Hearing as a freshman at USC, I was a former high school runner with no intention to run in college. Coach Hearing changed all that. 4 ½ years later I would graduate with a degree in EET, an ROTC commission and a 4-year runner for “Coach” that took me and other beloved team-mates to 2 National Cross Country Championships. His impact on my life was profound, his energy, football coach mentality, drive, and consistent booming voice during races and practices are always with me. Coach, you will be greatly missed, your “Beatle Bailey” (his nickname for me as an Army ROTC guy) is so grateful for the opportunities and experiences you have given me and many other student athletes. RIP Coach, May God bless you and your family.

  32. Coach Haering a great man who inspired me In many ways, many great memories with coach as a runner and a friend.May you rest in peace my friend and god bless you and all your family and friends.Going to miss you.Larry Caffey.

  33. In 1988 things did not work out for me at the University of Colorado Boulder.
I began looking through previous offer letters to find a new home. I only recieved one hand written offer letter and it was from Coach Haering. Without a doubt I gave Coach a call and immediately after our conversation I was headed to USC and never looked back.
Thank you Coach for giving your heart and dedecation to so many people.
    Love you Coach RIP
