Barry S. Roof, 83, passed away peacefully onto his next journey on May 20, 2025, with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Christina Roof and Annie Ankrom.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Roof; sons, Barry Roof, Jr. of Keaau, HI, and Walter Ankrom of Berkeley, Calif; daughters, Debbie Herring of Charlotte, SC, Jill Dillree of West Yarmouth, MA, Christine Haught of Reno, NV, Joan Nunez of Keaau, HI, and Monica Richards of Pueblo, CO; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews of our large and extended family will miss their Grandpa/Uncle Bear.

Barry was born to Jean and Ruth Roof on Nov. 4, 1941, in Whittier, Calif. He left a big footprint in the lives of his friends through his general shenanigans, story telling and conservative views. Barry enjoyed playing bridge, golf, car racing, hunting, and fishing.

In honoring Barry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will have a private memorial at a later date.   1. CandleImageI will always appreciate that Barry did so much for all of us girls while we were growing up. I have many memories of riding in his old jeep on the way to camp somewhere in the Nevada desert. He was the big Bear and his growl was way worse than his bite! Rest well, Barry!
