Alene Duzenack

Alene Duzenack, 80, of La Veta, CO passed away on December 6, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Frank Duzenack; parents, Charles
Victor and Mora Grabeel Sr; brother, Charles Victor Grabeel Jr, Juanita Linscott, Leola
Gorman and Barbara Wicht. She is survived by her faithful service dog, Scrappy; son,
Clifford Duzenack; daughter, Kim (David) DeTray; grandchildren, Tyler (Faith) Duzenack,
Sarah Duzenack (Daniel Macias), Shawn DeTray, Alorah Duzenack, Layne Duzenack,
Tyler Lee. DeTray; great-grandchildren, Stetsön and Ira Duzenack, Hadley Macias;
brothers, Paul Grabeel and Orville Grabeel; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear
friends.
Alene was born on October 7, 1945, in San Leandro, CA, and raised in Los Gatos, CA.
She moved to La Veta, CO in 1971, where she met and married Frank Duzenack on
October 2, 1976. Together they raised 2 children and ran the ranch together. She was
an active volunteer with the Huerfano County 4-H for many years. She enjoyed sewing,
cooking, canning, planting flowers and gardening and was always willing to teach
anyone who wanted to learn.
She loved helping people in need. She was an excellent cook and cooked at just about
every restaurant in Huerfano County- she made the BEST cinnamon rolls! One of her
favoríte hobbies was arguing with her husband, but most of all spending time with her
family. She loved hër children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all her heart.
She lived an amazing full life and will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank Maxim Home Health for the amazing care she received.
She loved her nurses and spoke very highly of you all. We would also like to thank the
Joni Fair Hospice House for the great care se received in her final days.
A celebration of life will take place on January 3, 2026, at 1 pm
in La Veta, CO at the Huerfano County Fair Grounds. In lieu of flowers, please make a
donation to the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, СО.
