Guestbook

  1. Albert was my mentor at Mountain Bell. He was such a straight shooter and one of the smartest people I’ve ever known. I admired him so much. A life well lived.

  2. CandleImageI worked with Al at Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph and I learned a lot from Al, he always was there to teach me about the telephone company. I consider Al to be a very good friend. Rest in peace my friend.

  3. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the family of Al Benko. I was fortunate to have Al in my life as a new employee at Mountain Bell. I worked in network and had to consistently have Al’s help. We had job descriptions however no experience or basic telecommunication understanding. Hardly a day went by for those 1st 2 years in Network that I did not need his assistance and training. He never tired of teaching and training myself and coworkers. He was kind, patient, respectful and openly shared his knowledge. There were times I was at a remote location and called for help. Though it was not his job he never refused to help and reach out to other experts to help find solutions. To Al my friend, rest in peace and may the Lord hold you in his arms, Dorothy B Butcher

  4. So sorry for your loss. Mom and I always enjoyed seeing you both during our Saturday shopping trips. Thoughts and prayers for comfort. Chris (Casack) Mize

  5. My condolences to the Benko family. I knew Al from the phone company as I worked on what was called the Frame and Al was a door away in the equipment room.
I knew him as a very friendly guy with a very welcoming smile and a light hearted, and easy going way about him. I never experienced him getting to upset about anything.
Every time I saw him after I left that job he always knew me and we would speak shortly.
I’m certain Al is going to be greatly missed by his family and friends alike.
I consider it an honor to have known such a great guy.

  6. A life well lived, Mr Benko demonstrated the definition of a good man! A faithful husband, dedicated father to two beautiful daughters, a valued employee and protector of our country. I have no doubt he heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant”, as he stood before his Lord and Saviour last Monday.

The Benkos are in our thoughts and prayers!

    Godspeed,

    Kirk and Paula Kochenberger

  7. CandleImageAl and Alita have been my favorite nextdoor neighbors for 20 years. Alita and family I am sorry to hear about Al passing. You both have been like a second family to me who I adore so much. When I first moved in and watched Al with his cowboy hat mowing the yard reminded me so much of my Grandpa moving. Al, I will miss you so much and Alita and family I am here for you. RIP Al

  8. For many, many years I visited with Al and Aletta at the Goat Hill Luncheons. What a beautiful couple….Al was always smiling, always the gentleman, and loved talking about Goat Hill history. Love to his family….Shirley

  9. Aletta and family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Although we only visited on weddings and funerals I always enjoyed your company!
Al had so much info on our family history, he will be missed.

  10. CandleImage”FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS, SHIPMATE” Although we didn’t serve together, you are still my ”SHIPMATE”

  11. My wife and I were friends and coworkers for years with Al at the telephone company. He was always a pleasant and cheerful person. We are so sorry for your loss.

  12. Aletta and Family: I am so saddened to read that Al passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I know our classmates join me in all our memories we had with you and Al. Wish I could be there to visit with you, but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Memories, fun times, photos, etc. help in these sorrowful times. Hugs and love, Pattee
