William R. (Bud) Kincaide

William R. (Bud) Kincaide, 86, passed away at the home of his daughter, Marilee B. Kincaide in Colorado Springs, on Monday, May 20, 2013. Bud was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Pueblo, Colo., to Harry H. and Mary R. (Sharp) Kincaide, who resided in Florence, Colo. After the death of Harry H. Kincaide in 1928, Mary Kincaide married W.I. Sanford in 1931. The family which included Bud's sister, Marjorie Kincaide, resided on the Sanford Ranch near Vineland, Pueblo County, Colo. Bud graduated from Vineland High School in 1944 and was a member of the Vineland High School State Championship Basketball team of 1944. Bud entered the United States Navy in October 1944 and served until July 1946 in the Pacific, assigned to the USS Wrangell, attaining the rank of Fireman First Class. He briefly attended, then Colorado A&M, now CSU. In 1947 he began farming with his step-father, W.I. Sanford. Bud married JoAnn Duncan of Avondale, Colo., on June 16, 1948. He continued to farm until 1984 when he and JoAnn moved to Monte Vista, Colo., where he operated a potato hauling business with his oldest son, Kenneth W. Kincaide. Bud and JoAnn retired to Longview, Texas in 1998, where they resided until March 2012. Bud and JoAnn had been members of the Vineland United Methodist Church, but most recently had been members of Hope Fellowship Church of Longview, Texas. He was also a member of the Pueblo County Farm Bureau and Avondale-Vineland Lions Club. Bud is survived by his wife, JoAnn; children, Kenneth W. Kincaide (Jane Stout) of Delta, Colo., Norman L. Kincaide of Rocky Ford, Colo., Celeste Laufert (Craig R. Laufert) of Eaton, Colo., Marilee Kincaide of Colorado Springs and Craig M. Kincaide of Severance, Colo.; grandchildren, Matthew Kincaide (Mollie Jackson); great-grandchildren, Kyle and J.D. of Delta, Colo., Heather R. Kincaide, Denver, Colo., Abraham Kincaide, Bamberg, Germany, Capt. Christopher Laufert, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Capt. Cortney Borgan (Joel Borgan), Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan, and Charles C. Laufert, Tucson, Ariz. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Marjorie B. (Kincaide) Hoath. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Plans for a memorial service are pending. Ashes will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
