Walter B. Nelson, 94, passed away Nov. 14, 2010. Survived by his children, Kathryn H. (Richard) Sullivan and Bernice E. Barnes; and granddaughters, Lindsay K. Fest and Meredith A. Kapushion. Preceded in death by his wife, Empie H. Nelson.
Walter was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Duluth, Minn. to Anna and Hans Nelson, who migrated from Denmark. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and later owned and operated a wholesale tool distribution company. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing and visits to Cripple Creek. Member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and B.P.O. Elks #90.
There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Rev. Father Alex Howard officiating. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Belmont Lodge Nursing Facility Activity Fund through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, CO 81003.

Walter was a big guy with a kind and loving heart; a wonderful friend to many people. He and Empie made the world a better place. I am glad to have known them and wish that more people on this earth could have been like them. Best wishes to Kathy, Bernice and their families for comfort and solace at this difficult time.
