Wallace Francis Burtis, 91, of Pueblo, passed away on September 16, 2022.
Born on May 12, 1931, in Pueblo, Colo., he was the son of Wallace C. and Flora (Menor) Burtis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rose Illene Greco.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joanne; his children, Michelle (Bruce Kobayashi) and Randal (Ellen); his grandchildren, Parker Kobayashi, Olivia Kobayashi, and Peter W. Burtis; and numerous relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Wallace served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He worked at the CF&I in Pueblo for 20 years and taught in School District 60 for 23 years. He also mined turquoise in Cripple Creek, Colorado and made turquoise jewelry for many years. Wallace had a strong faith and was a devout Catholic.
The Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, with Mass to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. The services will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 217 E Mesa Ave., Pueblo, CO 81006.
