Viola A. "Toni" Sharp

Long-time Fowler resident, Viola A. “Toni” Sharp, peacefully passed away on the morning of May 1, 2024, at Fowler Health Care. Toni Sharp was born February 24, 1928, in Manzanola, Colo. to John and Nettie Chronister. She was one of 10 children.

She attended school in Manzanola and Vroman. In 1938 the family moved to a farm West of Fowler and she graduated from Fowler High School in 1946.

In 1947, she married her best friend James “Bud” Sharp. Two children were born to this union – Donna Kay and Gary Vernon. After living her entire life in Fowler, Colo., in 2015 she moved into the home of Donna and Bill Jones in Pueblo West, Colo.

She was very active in her Church, Community, and School. She especially enjoyed attending activities for her children and grandchildren. She liked doing for others – visiting the nursing home – and delivering meals on wheels. Her first job was as a switchboard operator. She also worked for about 20 years at Diven Packing Co. in Fowler, Colo., and also helped with the family business -Bud’s Propane in Fowler.

In 1992, Toni was named “Woman of the Year” by the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Music has always been so important in her life. She sang with “New Dawn” for approximately 30 years and with the Worship Team at Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Bill) Jones in Pueblo West; daughter-in-law, Kathy Sharp of Fowler; a special nephew, Myron “Corky” Thomas (Patte) of Pueblo; five grandchildren, Scott (Joanna) Sharp of Aurora, Colo., Mark (Gina) Sharp of Fowler, Brad (Stacy) Sharp of Eaton, Colo., Christi (Scott) Charlton of Niceville, Fla., and Nikki (Aaron) Horrocks of South Fork, Colo. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, several nephews, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Sharp; her parents, John, and Netti Chronister; and her son, Gary.
