Vernon W. Stephens passed away January 31, 2004, just 9 days before his 91st birthday. Preceded in death by his wife, Lucille M. Stephens on Jan. 16, 2002. Survived by his sons, Bryce (Donna) Stephens of Grants, New Mexico and Royce Stephens of Boulder, Colorado; sister, May 'Maisie' Graham of Denver, Colorado; and 5 grandchildren. Vernon was born to Ira and Iola Stephens on Feb. 9, 1913, in St. Francis, Kansas. He retired from Public Service Company of Colorado as a power lineman after 37 years of service. Past Master of Longmont St. Vrain Lodge No. 23, AF&AM and member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 90. As per his request, there will be no viewing or services. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Vernon's final resting place will be on the eastern slope of Greenhorn Mountain in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Westcliffe, Colorado.
