Verda Crum, 86, passed away Nov. 18, 2007. Survived by her husband, Ben Crum; children, Cynthia (Mike) Young and Curt (Sharon) Crum; grandsons, Vincent (Julie) Vogel, Daniel Vogel and Louis Crum; great-grandchildren, Katie and Nicolas; sister, Nadine (Robert) Ubben; brother, Russell (Ruth) Estes; nephew, Gary Ubben and numerous greatly loved relatives. Verda was born to Ben and Grace Estes on Oct. 8, 1921, in Chenoa, Ill. She was like no other... Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter and friend. Verda was a multi-talented person. As a young girl, she taught herself to play the guitar and sang Country Western music on various radio stations. She was an accomplished seamstress and made drapes professionally for 25 years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. Her greatest love was her family and home. Member of First Presbyterian Church. Special thanks to Sangre de Cristo Hospice and the staff at University Park Care Center who went above and beyond with their care and support. Also, family, friends and neighbors who were there for us have our appreciation and gratitude. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Reverend Roger Hupp officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Sangre de Cristo Hospice or charity of choice, through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N.
