Born in: Lamar, Colorado
Resided in: Colorado City, Colorado

Venita Verlene (Schrepel) Baxter went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2020, in Colorado City, surrounded by her family. Venita was born in Lamar, Colorado on October 16, 1939, to Loren and Ruby Schrepel. Venita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Warren and Charles Schrepel; sister, Alortha Inez Schrepel; two infant sisters and nephew, Heiko Schrepel. Venita is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe Baxter; her sons, Victor Baxter and Guy Baxter; and her daughter, Amy (Phillip) Daniels. Venita was blessed with six grandchildren, Becky Baxter, Augusta (Ryan) Villarreal, Julie (Brad) Gabrielski, Samantha (Dustin) Shrewsbury, Sean (Lindsey Moss) Daniels, and Shayla (Seth Keys) Daniels; and four great-grandchildren, Bentley and Aubree Villarreal and Colten and Dixie Shrewsbury.

Venita spent her years on earth as a farm and ranch wife, a consummate artist, a successful businessperson, and a strong personality who loved and protected her family and friends with the fierceness of a Mama Bear.

Venita will be heralded upon arrival in Heaven as an outspoken, passionate, and humorous newcomer, prone to frightening everyone on the streets of gold with her Honda Pilot. Her days will be occupied by watching her Denver Broncos, playing cards, winning bingo, and whenever possible looking on the antics of her grandkids and great-grandkids.

No services are planned. At her request, Venita’s ashes will be spread along with her brother’s on Greenhorn Mountain. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1107 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005. Online condolence, www.MontgomerySteward.com
