Velma Elizabeth (Penaluna) Starbranch, 90, departed this earth to be with her Lord on December 6, 2004, in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Golden, CO, on August 2, 1914, to William John and Laura Pearl (Jordan) Penaluna. She has lived in Colorado all of her life, namely Denver, Golden and Black Hawk. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1991. Velma married Paul Starbranch on July 2, 1932, in Denver, CO. She is survived by one sister, Marjorie Nelson of Fairfax, VA; five daughters, Pearl 'Pat' Grennell of Chino Valley, AZ, Ester Seright of Colorado Springs, CO, Paula Wilson of Lakewood, CO, Elizabeth 'Betty' McMechen of Lakewood, CO and Marjorie 'Penny' White of Grants, NM; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; two very special sons-in-law, Thurmon Seright and Jim Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one infant son. Velma was very active in Eastern Star, being Worthy Matron of the Golden Queen Chapter of Eastern Star in Central City, CO, where she was a member for 49 years. She was a member of Eastern Star in Colorado Springs at the time of her death. She was very active in Job's Daughters, being Guardian of Bethel 13 in Golden and Grand Guardian of the State of Colorado. She was also very active in community activities in both Golden and BlackHawk. A memorial service will be held at East United Methodist Church, 1505 East Monument Street, Colorado Springs on December 17, 2004 at 1:00 o'clock p.m. Also a service in Central City will be noon Saturday, Dec. 18, at the St. James United Methodist Church.
