Vashta Joy Greenwalt

Vashta Joy Greenwalt, 94, was born in Nepesta, Colo., May 25, 1910, to Zelomir and Clarissa Jane Swallow and passed away May 19, 2005, in Pueblo. Married to Jay T. Greenwalt for a little over 50 years when he passed away in 1983. Member of the First United Methodist Church, a fifty year member of Chapter 7 of the O.E.S., Worthy Matron, a member of the past Matrons Club, serving as president for two different terms. A 35 year member of the S.O.O.B., a member of the Past Presidents Club of S.O.O.B., serving as president for two separate terms and a longtime member of the Harmony Club. Vashta was a member of the Girl Scouts of America for over 50 years as a volunteer leader and trainer and mentor of Brownie Troops for five years. She also served as Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls. She had no children of her own, but was Mother to many lucky girls. She is survived by her nephews, Gus (Rinthea) Carlson of Broomfield, Colo., Russ Carlson of Midland, Texas, and John Davis of Long Beach, Calif.; nieces, Verona Miller of Pueblo, Lorane (Kerry) Buckner of Siler City, N.C., Kristi (Al) Davis of Fayetteville, N. C., Beverly Rose of Julesburg, Colo.; numerous great-nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces; and longtime companions, Bobbi Bush and Jo Graff. Visitation at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at First United Methodist Church, 310 W. 11th Street, with Reverend Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery.
