Valerie Hockman went to be our Lord and Savior on January 16, 2022, due to COVID. She was born October 22 1945, in Manchester, England. Valerie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David L.Hockman; and her parents, John and Vera Pacheco; and many other relatives. Valerie is survived by her daughter, Sandy and Curtis Osborne; her son, David and Kamille Hockman; her granddaughters, Kaely Osborne and Robert Jones, Ashley Osborne; and her great-granddaughter, Amie Osbone; cousins; and family by love.

Mom never knew a stranger, she would say “Hello” to every person she met and would know their life history before they parted ways. Mom worked at Prairie Avenue Baptist Church for many years and loved it. After she left there she went to Happy Land preschool. She always said Happy Land taught her a lot about kids and if she worked there before she had kids she would have been a better mom. We think she did a pretty good job! After Happy Land she started babysitting a 5 month old that was going to be just “a job.” Well, that job turned into family by love. Then she got a 2 year old to babysit which also turned into another family by love. Mom and Dad enjoyed going out to eat every Friday night with ‘the gang.” Even after Dad passed she continued to go until she just couldn’t any longer.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. She befriended me even when extended family told her she wouldn’t like me. We hit if off immediately and spent the next 22 years building on that friendship. She was an aunt by marriage, and a best friend by love. I am so glad she is now with Uncle David, as I know how much she missed him! The memories are wonderful, and i will always hold them to my heart

  2. We are going to miss this beautiful lady. She was so kind and caring. Valerie’s smile and laugh was so genuine that it always reached her eyes and heart. Rest In Peace while holding hands with the love of your life.
