theodor witzel

February 2, 1933 ~ March 4, 2025

Born in: Frankfurt, Gemany
Resided in: Brooksville, Florida

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Theodor “Ted” Witzel, who died peacefully on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, at the age of 92.

Theodor was born on February 2, 1933, and lived a life full of dedication, warmth, love and laughter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Witzel. Theodor was a loving father to his two children, Carmen (Robert) West and Stanley (Beth) Witzel. He was also a proud grandfather to Jeremy (Jodi) Witzel, Rosalind (Andrew) Medina, and Keenan Cox, and a cherished great-grandfather to Adler, Bailey, Berlyn, Billy and Parker.

Theodor is also survived by and deeply loved by his family in Germany, including his sisters Ermtraud and Hyacintha, and his brothers Gunther and Wolfgang, and their spouses, along with many nieces and nephews. His extensive community of family and friends, both near and far, will continue to honor his memory and cherish the moments they shared with him.

Theodor dedicated 22 years of his life proudly serving in the United States Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, he spent 15 years as a North American Van Lines driver, enjoying the independence and adventure that came with it.

A long-time member of the Pueblo German American Club, he was rooted in his German heritage.   An avid fan of all things soccer, he also found passion in traveling in the motorhome, attending Rocky Roo Bounder rallies, playing the stock market and cards, soaking up the sun on his pontoon boat and loved having had the opportunity to live the American dream.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel, 1317 N. Main Street, Pueblo, Colorado, followed by a celebration of life at Sunset Inn Bar and Grill. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Pueblo German American Club (pueblogermanamericanclub.com).

We find comfort in knowing that Theodor’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
