Teresa Villanueva, 82, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, surrounded by her family. Survived by her children, Chris (Sharon) Villanueva, Peggy (Mark Gassino) Montoya and Toby (Candee) Villanueva; grandchildren, Joe (Gena) Montoya, Desirae Montoya, Kyle (Natalie) Villanueva, Ethan Villanueva and Laura Gassino; great-grandchildren, Julia, Joslyn, Brayden and Lucy Montoya; sisters, Betty Gallegos and Marva Morrone; brother, Amadeo (Amy) Madrid; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including best friend, Lucille Orona. Preceded in death by her husband, Toby Villanueva Sr.; parents, Amadeo and Beatrice Madrid; brothers-in-law, George Morrone and Fred Gallegos; and nephew, Kenny Madrid.
Teresa was born Sept. 5, 1940, in Hoehne, Colo. She graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School in 1959. In her early years, as a young widow, she provided for her children by learning the trade of real estate investing. Teresa enjoyed working in her yard, but most of all, she loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. Teresa will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Viewing, 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass, 9:45 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at St. Joseph Parish. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed.   1. My beautiful cousins, i am so sorry to know you lost your mother and grandmother. I loved my Aunt Theresa very much. Loved her smile, sense of humor and how much she adored her family.

    I have so many memories with all of us together. Beautiful memories that still play out in my mind and often in dreams. My love and hugs to you all. I will see her again someday in another time and place and we will share a good laugh and dance the night away.

I’d like to thank you and your brother for being there for her, helping her, and taking care of her. She’s such a special woman and will always be there with you!

  3. My heart goes out to All of Teresa’s children and grandchildren I know you were all so loved and special in her eyes. Teresa would always tell me this as we talked at my mom’s house on occasions. My mom Mary and Teresa were truly best friends since the good ole days in salt Creek in their younger years till now in their golden years..Heaven has gained another Angel, Teresa please tell my Mom hello and I miss her❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • Thank you Renee, I hope we both find peace with the loss of our mothers. This is going to be so hard for me and you. I always loved talking with my Nina and my mom. These ladies will be truly missed by friends and family.
