Shirley Jean Nidey, 58, passed away October 12, 2011. Survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Michael Nidey; children, Amy Rae Sutton and Cristopher Michael Nidey; mother, Nancy Bryant; sister, Judy (Norm) Frederiksen; brother, Steve (Shelley) Bryant; grandchildren, Makena and Kylie Sutton. Also survived by her mother-in-law, Mary Nidey and numerous loved ones and special friends. Preceded in death by her father, Ray Bryant and father-in-law, John W. Nidey. Shirley was born June 5, 1953, in Pueblo and worked many years in the clerical department at the Pueblo Chieftain. She was a member of Parkhill Baptist church. She had a wonderful since of humor and was definitely the life of the party. She brought joy and laughter into many lives. She was the most faithful and loudest cheerleader and supporter at all the family athletic events. Most of all, Shirley loved her family. At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 3 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Pastor Dan Craft officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, CO 81003.     I do not ever recall not knowing and loving you-you have always been part of my families lives, whatever the distance was, you were part.
    I have always enjoyed your laughs and fun no matter how silly or pathethic they were-there were some real joys in there-real hum dingers if I may say so.
    I am grateful that I was part of your sunset, even in tha ole’ girl you kept your spirit and sense of humor.

  16. My deepest condolences go out to the Nidey family. Shirley was such a wonderful person. I grew up with Cris and got to know Shirley very well.
    When I worked at the Chieftain she always had my back. She will be missed deeply. My thoughts and prays will be with the Nidey family at such a difficult time. Sorry Cris, Amy and Mike for such a treasure gone in your lives, but she will always be with you in spirit. Take care.
