Ruth S. von Ahlefeldt

Ruth S. von Ahlefeldt, 96, passed away Aug. 9, 2014. Survived by her son, Alan (Carol) R. von Ahlefeldt and grandson, Grant A. von Ahlefeldt. Preceded in death by her husband, Rolf S. von Ahlefeldt; son, Bruce E. von Ahlefeldt; sister, Miriam S. Noia; and brothers, George C. And Steven W. Steiner. Ruth was born to William H. and Grace E. Steiner on April 24, 1918, in New York, N.Y. She graduated from Hunter College in 1939 with a major in Latin and a minor in Greek. In 1968, she graduated from Denver University with a Master of Arts Degree. Ruth was a first grade teacher for District #60 at Hyde Park Elementary from 1955 until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, playing tennis, snow skiing, crossword puzzles, playing music and watching golf. Member of First Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma: Beta Chapter, Friends of KTSC-TV, Association for Childhood Education and PRSEA. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, at First Methodist Church, 310 W. 11th St., with Pastor Kirsten Barlow officiating.
