Ruth Gonzales, 81, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away peacefully in her home, April 13, 2007. Preceded in death by parents, Florencio and Guadalupe Aguirre; sisters, Jenny and Irene; brother, Francisco; and nephew, Richard Gonzales, who she loved as a son. Survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Pablo Gonzales; sons, Pablo, Jr (Loretta), Steve (Virginia), Dennis and Matthew (Rose); sisters, Josephine (Kelly) Romero; special nephew, Bobby Gonzales; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; relatives; and friends, many who were like daughters, sons, brothers and sisters to her. Ruth was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Pueblo, and was a first generation American citizen with an eighth grade education, demonstrated her intelligence, courage, leadership tenacity and vision when she established Crown Discount Barber Shop in 1964. Ruth owned and operated the business for over 30 years. She had many fond memories of generations of customers and barbers who later followed her and opened their own businesses. Ruth gave back to her community with her civic involvement and in establishing college funds. Viewing from noon to 6 p.m. Monday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral Mass, 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 226 Michigan, with the Reverend Father Ben Bacino officiating. Interment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens.   7. In 1988 Kevin Linam was on the rehab floor at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. Ruth was also a paitent there. Ruth was so sweet and kind to Kevin we have always been grateful to her. She was a lovely person and we feel sorry for your loss.

  8. I will always remember your Mother’s “GENEROSITY” I was one of the kids that had his haircuts at her shop in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She also gave me a side job cleaning up the shop on Sunday’s. That was my first job at 10yrs old it help enstill the responsiblity to be a productive citizen of society.
