Russell Kenton Darr, Jr., 84, passed away on July 7, 2009. Survived by his wife, Vonnabeth Brown Darr; children, Russell K. (Margie) Darr, III and Shyra Darr; grandchildren, Chris (Kim) Bowles, Russell Kenton Darr, IV, Cheryl Ann Darr and James Austin Harris. Also survived by step-daughters, Rosemary (Ralph) Wineland and Georgeanna T. Branch; half sister, Cheryl (Dave) Robertson; brother-in-law, Norman 'Bud' Ludwig and their families. Preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cheryl Ann Darr; parents, Russell and Marie B. Darr; and sister, Aileen Ludwig. Russell was born November 9, 1924, in Coshocton, Ohio. He was a career US Air Force pilot and squadron commander. Russell was a dedicated volunteer of the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum and Pueblo Historical Aircraft Society. He was also a member of Air Force Association, Mel Harmon Chapter, various veterans' and political organizations. Visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Followed by cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at Ascension Episcopal Church, 18th and Grand, with the Reverend Dr. Efraim Radner officiating. Military honors by High Frontier Honor Guard of Peterson Air Force Base and inurnment will follow at the Ascension Episcopal Columbarium. Please omit flowers, as they are not allowed in the church.
