Rudolph Anthony 'Tony' Barela, 46,affectionately known as 'Shorty', passed away April 30, 2003, in Denver. Survived by his mother, Mary Grace Barela, Pueblo; children, Michael (Yolanda) Valerio, Toniann Montoya, Nicholas Montoya, and Paul Montoya; siblings, Madeline (Jim) Santos, Lucille (Jim) Garbiso, both of Pueblo, Cindy (Dick) Annett, Littleton, Andy (Tracey) Barela, Colorado Springs, Judy Barela-Wiseman, Pueblo West; special friend, Georgianne Martinez; grandchildren, Aliyah and Shaelynn; nieces and nephews, Jeff (Allyson) Santos, Greg Santos, Matthew Garbiso, Melanie (Javier) Rowen, Shawnte Maes, Amanda Annett, Sara Jo and Andrew Barela, Katelyn Wiseman and Lane Wiseman. Preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Barela on November 14, 1990. Tony was born June 9, 1956, in Pueblo and was a veteran of the US Army. He specialized in auto body repairs and was a perfectionist at his trade. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2003, at St Mary Help of Christians Church, 307 E. Mesa Ave., with the Reverend Father Edward G. Pettit as celebrant. Military honors by Pueblo Veteran's Ritual Team and interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
