Rosemary Valantine Aldred, 92, of Avondale, passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2021. Rosemary was born November 20, 1928, in Pueblo, Colo., to Jerry and Dorothy Valantine. She grew up working in the family’s Avondale grocery store and after graduation from Avondale High, attended Pueblo Junior College and Colorado State College at Greeley where she received her teaching degree. She returned to the Avondale area for one year of teaching and to marry the love of her life, husband James Aldred. Together they farmed and cattle-ranched on the family farm raising their five children. Rosemary returned to teaching and taught in District 70 for 23 years before retiring in 1989. She loved her church, Avondale United Methodist, where she also taught children in Sunday School for over 75 years. She loved to garden up until her death as displayed by the beautiful flowers in her yard. Her faith, family and friends were the most important thing in her life. Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband of twenty years; her sister, Nancy Gill; her parents, and parents-in-law, Arch and Justina Aldred. She will be missed by her four sons, Thomas (Rhonda), Allan (Roxanne), Archie and Louis Aldred and one daughter, Nancy Bartosz; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, who all dearly loved “Grandma Rosie,” and numerous family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Avondale United Methodist Church, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Avondale United Methodist Church, 233 East Highway 50, Avondale, CO 81022 in loving memory of Rosemary.
