Rodney Lynn Hawkins

RODNEY LYNN HAWKINS, 66, born Oct 26, 1956 in Ottumwa, IA, passed away on January 27, 2023, after a short battle with lung and brain cancer in Pueblo, CO. He loved horses and was a great horse trainer, he was often called a horse whisperer, it was his greatest passion. Rod showed his horses in many shows to include the National Western Stock Show in the dressage events placing 1st overall. He was a dog lover and raised several German Shepards. Rod enjoyed landscaping and gardening. He was a great cook, he worked in several restaurants over the years. His mother, Carolyn J. Woollums preceded him in death. He is survived by his longtime friend, Davie; his father, Larry L. Hawkins (Judy); two sisters, Verdeda R. Hawkins (Jerry Peer) and Yvette J. Behrent (Marty); two nieces and two nephews; 7 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews. Memorial will be later in the spring.
