Service for Rick Jones

Richard Allen Jones (Rick), age 66, of Pueblo, passed away on June 15, 2022. Rick was born in Pueblo, Colorado on July 6, 1955, to Calvin and Betty Jeanne Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Kathy Adcox. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cindy Jones; daughters, Brittany (Marc Bregar) Jones and Courtney (Brody) Lockett; and beloved grandchildren, Addison and Wyatt Lockett, and soon to arrive baby girl Bregar; favorite lifelong neighbor, Lois (L J) Morini; nephews and niece, Robb (Barbi) Adcox, Jeff (Janet) Adcox, and Shannon (Patrick) Day; extended family of cousins and great nieces/nephews; as well as several lifelong friends from his years of bowling, basketball, and golf.
Rick enjoyed the simpler things in life. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan, often found watching the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, Avs, or any golf tournament that was on T.V. He also participated in multiple sports throughout his life. He was a basketball player, cross country runner, ping-pong state champion, and was a decorated member of the Pueblo Bowling Hall of Fame. He and his wife could often be seen riding their tandem bike through City Park, bowling on Friday nights, or playing with their 2 dogs and 2 cats at home. His daughters fondly remember his whistling expertise, illusive half smile and chuckle, and familiar catch phrases of “Howdy”, “Yo”, and “Right On”. Rick recently retired from his 27 year career as Chief Deputy Assessor at the Pueblo County Courthouse. Rick’s family takes comfort in knowing he is no longer struggling, and is now lovingly watching over them from his lazy boy recliner in the sky.
Memorial service, 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Youth Bowling Association (Pueblo USB) or the Pueblo Humane Society. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com

  1. Dear Cindy & family,

    Sincerely,

  2. Cindy,
I am sorry that I was unable to attend Rick’s service in person, but I was able to attend virtually on Wednesday at work. The funeral service was very nice and the pictures at the end just captured the wonderful memories that you all, as a family shared and will continue to share in your hearts. Brittany and Courtney sharing their stories of their dad was filled with love and I was happy that they found the strength to share with all of us. Please take time to grieve and find comfort in each other. Cousin Nancy

  3. Cindy,

  6. My condolences to the Jones family. I worked with Rick many years ago. I can honestly say he was the the most down to earth and sincere person I ever met. I remember him as a really good person which epitomizes his legacy. RIP Rick and god bless to your family.

    Ted Vinci.

  7. Our sincere condolences to Cindy and the Jones family. Rick was just a real fun guy to be around. Spent many good times competing with and against Rick. He was one of the all time great bowlers that Pueblo ever saw. I am honored to have called him a friend. He will be missed.
    Scott and Rhonda

  8. I remember the times Rick used to spot me 20 points in ping pong in his patio table, and he’d still beat me most of the time!
All around “good guy” gentle but competitive spirit.
    Good bye my friend.
    Mark Gassino

  9. Dave enjoyed his many years of bowling with Rick. They are forming their team in heaven. Look out Friday nights!. My deepest sympathy to Cindy and family. God bless!

  10. Such a huge loss. Rick was always the character. He will be missed by the bowlers in Pueblo. Condolences to all of you. Shoot those 300’s and 800’s on those pearly lanes Rick…

  11. Anyone fortunate enough to have known RJ recognizes that individuals like him are few and far between. The echoes of his joyful whistling reverberating through the halls of the County Courthouse always lifted my spirits. That building, and the lives of those who knew him will be forever diminished by his absence. Goodbye my friend. My most sincere condolences to RJ’s family and friends, especially Cindy, Brittany and Courtney.

  12. RJ you will be greatly missed. We had some crazy basketball games together and great conversations after at the Sunset. We will cherish the memories of you always. God Bless and rest in peace.
    Joe, Andrea and Sarah
