Richard H. Gibson

Richard H. Gibson, 77, passed away on August 28, 2026. He is survived by his son, Jeff; daughter-in-law, Ellie; granddaughter, Isabelle; brother, Bill; and sisters, Jewlie, Sue, and Connie. Preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne D. Gibson; brothers, Kevin, and Gary Gibson; mother, Jewell; and father, Horace Gibson. Richard was born to Horace and Jewell Gibson, January 13, 1949, in Pueblo, Colorado.
Rick was valedictorian of his 1967 class at South High School in Pueblo, Colorado. Rick earned his Bachelor of Arts from SCSC with a major in applied mathematics and a Master’s in advanced mathematics. Rick served in the Peace Corps from 1971 to 1973, where he taught mathematics and played rugby in Sarawak, Malaysia. He was once described in a newspaper article about a match as “having a touch of speed.” It was in the Peace Corps that he met his future wife, Jeanne. Jeanne and Rick were married in 1975 at Hamilton College, in Clinton, NY. Rick owned and operated Mercantile Printing in Pueblo, CO after taking the business over from his father and uncle. Rick loved his family, was always there in every possible capacity and was kind and accepting of everyone. He loved deeply, gave his all and lived for his granddaughter, Isabelle. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Cancer Center.
