Richard D. Mansfield, 66, of Colorado City, Colo., passed away August 24, 2005. Survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Mansfield; children, Martin D. (Colleen) Mansfield, Mary Ann Plavak, William F. Mansfield, Patricia J. (Terry) Sammons, all of Colorado City; and grandchildren, Justin A., Alea M., Taylor R. and Jenna C. Mansfield, Mikala G. Plavak and Abbigail A. Sammons. Richard was born to Martin D. and Bernice B. Mansfield on Sept. 13, 1938, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Richard and Dorothy married Sept. 22, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa. Richard was the owner and operator of True Value Hardware in Colorado City for many years, retiring in 2003. There will be no viewing. Rosary, 7 p.m. Sunday and memorial Mass, 10 a.m. Monday. Both services at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Rye with Msgr. Marvin Kapushion as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
