Reverend Monsignor Joseph Patrick McGuinness

Reverend Monsignor Joseph Patrick McGuinness, passed away April 16, 2001 in Cortez, Colorado. Survived by his brothers and sisters, Philomena Chidley of Swindon, England, Marie (Brendan) Sealy of Dublin, Ireland, Kathleen Lang of New York, New York, Carmel (Martn) Holmes of Dallas, Texas, Michael (Phyllis) McGuinness of Dublin, Ireland Bernadette (Gabriel) Peelo of Dublin, Ireland and Noel McGuinness of South Hampton, England. Preceded in death by his parents, Patric Joseph and Helena (nee Cahill) McGuinness and brother, Patrick McGuinness. He was ordained on June 15, 1952 at Thurles, Ireland by Bishop Kinane for the Diocese of Pueblo and was assigned as assistant pastor of St. Patrick's Church on September 10, 1952. He then served as pastor for Ouray, Grand Junction, Cortez, Montrose and Pueblo. On June 29, 2000 he was appointed Chaplain to His Holiness. He will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Vesper service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2001 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with the Most Reverend Arthur Tafoya as celebrant. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
