Marie Edna Nelson Davidson Lamb Barkman, 103, passed away September 10, 2002. Longtime Pueblo resident, socialite, and philanthropist. Born, September 14, 1898, in Denver, to Martin Elias and Augusta Rose Nelson. Preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Thora Alfhilda, Anna Caroline, Charles Nicholas and Theodore Edward, and by her husbands Ray Davidson, Frank Lamb, and Frank Barkman. After finishing business college in Chicago, Marie married Ray Davidson and spent time in Washington, DC and Virginia, during the World War I and its aftermath. Married to Frank Lamb in 1922, she shuttled between Los Angeles and Chicago, moving to Pueblo in 1949, where Lamb came as owner of Triplex, then the largest aluminum piston manufacturer in the world. At Lamb's death in 1953, Triplex was sold. Marie married Frank Barkman in 1956. The two headed a charitable foundation in Lamb's memory, which was instrumental in supporting the Pueblo Library, funding two branches on the South Side and in Belmont, which bear Lamb's and Barkman's names. The two also supported other Pueblo charities, including the YWCA and the El Pueblo Boys Ranch. Marie and Frank were named 'Citizens of the Year' by the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce in 1991. Frank Barkman died on November 13, 1999. Marie was active in several community and social groups, and was for a long time head of the Rector's Guild at Ascension Episcopal Church, where she and Frank Barkman were devoted members. A woman of strength, concern for her community, and joy in life, she leaves Pueblo saddened by the passing of a great citizen and woman, and grateful for her presence among us. At her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2002, at Ascension Episcopal Church, 18th & Grand Ave., with the Reverend Dr. Ephraim Radner officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Skelton, 62, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2002. Survived by his daughters, Joy (Kenny) Sutton, Katherine Boulier, Debra Phillips and Tammy (Chuck) Chennaux; sons, Emmett (Wanda) Skelton and Michael Dean; siblings, Katherine (Rex) Lile, Marshall (Hazel) Skelton and Evelyn (Harold) Walker; 14 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruby and sister, Launa Smith. Emmett served in the U.S. Marines. He loved to fish, go to Cripple Creek and tell jokes. Viewing, today and Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Friday at Park Hill Christian Church, 1401 E. 7th, with Rev. Charlene Nimmo officiating. Skiff, 77, beloved wife and mother, passed away Sept. 9, 2002, in Pueblo, Colorado after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Charleston, West Virginia on April 10, 1925, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Harry J. Skiff on August 13, 2002. Survived by children, Sandra (Ted) McQuarrie-Otcasek, Pueblo West, Colorado; Linda (John) Moden, Upland, California; and Matt (Vicky) Skiff, Bremerton, Washington; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Reynolds, Victoria Texas and Frances Hanson, Springhill, Florida. Edie had been a Pueblo resident for 50 years. The most important thing in her life was her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to the staff of Sangre de Cristo Hospice and special caregivers, granddaughter, Melody Mercer and great-granddaughter, Lindsay Barnes. At her request, no services.
