Norbert W. Wenthold, 76, passed from this world on Jan. 7, 2015. Survived by his sisters, Irene (Dick) Niebuhr and Delores McKeen; sister-in-law, Donna Wenthold; as well as daughters, Maria (Bill) Poelman and Annie Arnold (Jade Norton); and his sons, William (Toni) Wenthold and Joseph (Gina) Wenthold; grandchildren, Carlos (Barbara) Arnero, Amanda Arnero, Stevee (Aaron) Casey, Rian Martin, Jordan Martin, Katie Poelman, Sarah Poelman, Breana Arnold and Victoria Arnold, Jiana Norton, Jayden Norton and Jace Norton; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ethan, Sienna and Samantha; with acknowledgment to Charlene Wenthold, Mary Birmingham, Geneva Lee and Craig Arnold. Preceded in death by his father, William Wenthold; brother, Clarence Wenthold; and mother, Elizabeth Wenthold; and Audie Peacock. Born to William 'Bill' Wenthold and Elizabeth Wenthold on Jan. 15, 1938, on the family farm in Wells, Minn. Raised on the family farm, he joined the U.S. Army at age 18 in1956, served with A Battery 56th Field Artillary until 1958 and completed his U.S. Army Reserve Duty in 1962. Obtained his pilot's license in 1964. Farmed until 1968 in Fairbault County, Minn. Moved to the Twin Cities area and worked on the 'high risers' as a welder and construction worker. Moved to Colorado in 1970 and worked at CF&I Steel mill. Went into business with partners Bowdin & Clemmer forming BCW. Worked for Capp Homes as an award-winning framer. Resumed his BCW concrete contractor work with the states of Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. Worked for Tony Beltramo & Sons completing sidewalk and gutter work for their road contracts, eventually running their rock crusher for many years. Worked a short time for the Colorado State Drug Rehab Program. He completed training for the Ministry of Christian Service Program. For many years he served as an election official. He was a lifetime member of the DAV as well as a former DAV state commander from 2003-2004 and served on the national DAV level as well. He was also a member of the DAVA. He had been a member of the American Legion. He really enjoyed driving in his car and traveling to state and national conventions to meet new people. If you asked him what his hobbies were, he would answer: TV and chasing after women. No visitation and no viewing. Cremation at Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Montgomery & Steward Chapel, with VA Chaplain Dennis Johnson officiating. Military honors by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. Interment, Fort Lyon National Cemetery, Colo. Date to be determined. Reception to follow at the American Legion Post 2, 9th and West streets, Pueblo, CO 81003.   1. Sue & I are very sorry to hear of Norbert’s passing. Our sympathy to the family. I worked for and stayed with Norbert and Charlene for several summers while in high school. Many fond memories of that time.

  2. I just saw Norbert’s obituary in the Jan. 15th edition of the Wells Mirror and was shocked & saddened to hear of his passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Norbert was my first cousin and also my Godfather. I really looked up to Norbert. I have many fond memories of him and visiting/staying with the family when I was a kid. I hadn’t seen him or talked to him in years, but have always held a special place for him, and your family, in my heart. He will be missed. Thinking of you all, with deepest sympathy –
