Nevin L. La Van, 79, departed this life on Oct. 8, 2012, in Pueblo. He was born Oct. 18, 1932, in Pueblo, to the union of Erman J. and Emma La Van, both deceased. Nevin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth J. 'Betty' La Van, whom he married Dec. 6, 1970; daughter, Jean M. La Van; brother, Ronald La Van; aunts, Inez Reivitt of Pueblo, Alta Morris of Mancos, Colo. and Mary Cade of Canon City; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served on several boards and committees and Sky Corral RC Club. He built and flew remote control planes. Nevin retired from Public Service Company on June 1, 1990. There will be no viewing. Service, 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Sangre de Cristo Hospice, c/o Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, CO 81003.
