Neva Jean Shearer passed away on August 30, 2026, in Parker, Colorado. She was seventy-nine years old. She was predeceased by her parents, Huston and Lorene Shearer of Pueblo. Her remaining family consists of her brother, Dennis (Neta Sue) Shearer of Pueblo; nieces Amanda (Larry) Anderson; children, Troy, Kylie and Jason of Parker, and Rebeckah (Frank) Cortese, children Ava and AJ of Pueblo.
Neva was born April 8, 1947, and was raised in Pueblo. She left to go to college, graduating from UNC, Greeley, and received a Master’s degree from CSU, Fort Collins. She taught home economics at Leadville High School for twenty years. While in Leadville she restored a 1890’s Victorian house, which was the home of her dreams. After leaving Leadville, she went back to school getting a second Master’s degree in Accounting from CU, Denver. She worked in that field for twenty more years. She was a pianist and an excellent seamstress.

What a truly remarkable Home Economics teacher. Took her classes for three years. Learned cooking and sewing skills along with other skills. Very kind and nurturing.

To Dennis, Susie and family. I am so sorry to hear of Neva’s passing. All of us are cousins (I don’t know if it is 3 or 4th but cousins). When we were kids we used to see each other and enjoyed playing together then life came along and so we grew and so did the distance between us. But, care and family love has never left.
I am sorry for the loss of yet another family member. But as we all believe she is in a better place. May she be reunited with all the family that has gone before. With Sympathy. Becky Starke Mihelich
I am so sorry to hear of Nema’s passing. She was such a dedicated teacher , talented seamstress, and for many years a good friend. Though we had lost touch with each other the last few years, I will always remember her as a beautiful person, dedicated teacher, and one who lived her faith.
