Celebration of Life:

Myra Ellen Cosby, 84, of Avondale, Colo., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born on January 24, 1940, in Pueblo, Colo. Myra loved children and served as a cafeteria aide at Parkview Elementary School, retiring in 1991 after more than 20 years of caring for all her “little friends.” She enjoyed building in her backyard and planting and growing flowers to beautify her home. As a movie enthusiast, she enjoyed classic black-and-white Western movies, especially those that included John Wayne and any Elvis movie. She enjoyed listening to music of all types, with her favorites being all Elvis tunes. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery novels, detective stories, and her Bible. Her collections included snowmen, flamingos, elephants, stuffed animals, blankets, and ceramics. Myra had an infectious smile, keen humor, and a cheerful personality.

She loved spending her remaining years with her daughter, Lila, grandson James, and his fiancé, Rosemary Dagendesh, who served as her primary caregivers.

Rosemary commented, “I loved calling you by your name, but to me, you were already, ‘My sweet grandmother-in-law.’ I absolutely adored you. You truly were the light to my life when all else was going wrong.” Special thanks to “Rose” for providing that special touch Myra adored!

She is survived by her son, David Cosby (Carol), and daughter Lila Imblum (Norman). Grandchildren Candace Alfonso, Patrick, Johnathon, Christina, James (Rosemary), Chelsey, and Meagan. Great-Grandchildren Samantha, Lacie, and Jayden Mae.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; sons, Patrick and Christopher; parents, Harold and Joann Brummett; brothers, Harold and David; and sister, Lynda Stapleton. Grandchildren, Audryanna and Caleb.

A celebration of life will be held in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, on Wednesday, March 27 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
