January 27, 1923 ~ October 25, 2011

Resided in: Pueblo, CO

Mildred 'Millie' Gaby, passed into God's realm, on Oct. 25, 2011, after a difficult slide through a labyrinth of hope and futility, passing of natural causes. Millie will always be remembered for her bright smile and willingness to accede to others suggestions. She loved to attend her Beta Sigma Phi luncheons and meetings. For many years she, with hubby, Bob, square danced from Colorado to Texas, California and even an afternoon in Mexico. Anywhere the call 'Square Em Up'sounded she was on her feet, face glowing to join a square of eight happy dancers. Many nights as age was encroaching, we spent dancing at the Elks and Eagle Lodges. Millie was born in old St. Mary's Hospital on Jan. 27, 1923, to Horace and Mary Witzel. She is survived by husband, Robert Gaby; sister, Helen Witzel; brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Maxine Gaby; nephews, Vince (Diana) Gaby, Robert (Lisa) Gaby and Daniel Gaby all of California; nieces, Kathleen (Mike) Malvern, Arlene (Dennis) Baker of Grand Junction, Colo; cousins, Loretta Masterson and Daniel Masterson, Roberta Wallace, Mary Wallace and Marilee North of Tennessee. She was the mother of one child, Stewart Michael, who died on Sept. 2006. We would like to thank Dick and Fran Henry who were our teachers and close friends, Bob and Shirley Titman who talked us into trying square dancing. I would also like to thank close friends, Fred and June Hebein, John and Wanda Potter, and Jack and Pat DeHaven for their support. Special thanks to Dr. Jenson and staff, Sangre de Cristo Hospice and their support and Visiting Angels, especially Judy, Carol and Debbie. Viewing, Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Funeral mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Our Lady of the Meadows, 23 Starling Dr., with the Rev. Fr. Ben Bacino as celebrant. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or American Cancer Association through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, CO 81003. Thank you to all those who loved her through her life. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com

  1. Dear Bob,

I’m so sorry about Millie. She was such a sweet person. You and Millie were such good friends with My Mom (Isabel “Izzy” Luttrell). She spoke of you and Millie often and all the fun things you did together.

I know if “Izzy” were still here she would be deeply saddened by the loss of her dear friend Millie.

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family during this very difficult time.

    Sincerely,
    Tracy & Carl Jensen

  2. Dearest Bob and Helen,
It saddens me to know that I will no longer hear her infectious laugh, or see her beautiful smile. But I take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain, and that she has joined her Lord and her son. May you take comfort in our love for her, and also find peace in hers. I will miss her oh so very much.

    With all our sympathies,
    The Steinbach Family

  3. To the family and friends of Mildred Gaby: Please know that all of us in Beta Sigma Phi who knew Millie enjoyed her company and
    will miss her.
May the Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent from the other.
