Mildred L. Merrell

Mildred L. Merrell, departed from this life February 9, 2000. She was predeceased
by her husband, Walter Merrell, on February 3, 1987. She was the only child of Louis
Austin and Margaret (neé Smith) East, born in Burrton, Kansas, August 16, 1904. She
leaves to mourn her passing, a son, Craig Merrell, Littleton, Colorado; a daughter,
Linda (Allan) Morgan, Healdsburg, California; granddaughters, Vicki Morgan,
Folsom, California and Kristi (Larry) Ory, Wood River, Illinois; grandson, Robert
Merrell and great granddaughters, Katelyn and Emily Morgan Barr. Mildred had a
musical family and leaves to her friends and to the honor of God, the Carillons at the
First United Methodist Church which speak to every passerby of a Savior who will
never pass them by. She was a member of Bethel and First United Methodist
Churches during the years she lived in Pueblo. She moved here after her marriage in
1927. She graduated from Colorado College and taught in the District No. 60 Schools
until her retirement in 1969. She was an active member in all the professional
teachers' associations and also was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a teachers'
sorority, and Pueblo Retired Teachers Association. Mildred resided at the Pueblo
Villa Towers for the past 13 years and was the Colorado State Fair Silver Queen in
1998. A her request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward
Crematorium. There will be a memorial service 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Pueblo
Villa Towers Penthouse. A private interment will take place.
