Survived by his wife of 57 years, Georgia R. Whitmire of Pueblo, son, James S. (Margaret) Whitmire, Pueblo, twin brother, Harwell (Avalyn) Whitmire of Odessa, Texas, grandchildren, Mary Ann Whitmire, Denver, Colo., and Lynn Whitmire of Pueblo; nieces and nephews, Jack (Nelda) Whitmire of Victoria, Texas, Betty (Bill)Sumner of Midland, Texas, Mary (Steve) Fish of Tempe, Arizona and Susie Ann (Bill) Boyce of Warren, NJ. Preceded in death by his parents, Milas Whitmire, Sr. and Mattie (nee: Shelton) Whitmire, sisters, Lenora Blackburn and Myrtle Golladay, niece, Helen Spinks, and nephew, John Whitmire. Whit graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry. He farmed in Midland until 1948, except for serving as a captain in the US Army during WWII. In 1948, he moved near Ada, Oklahoma, where he owned and operated a cattle ranch until his retirement in 1967. He moved to Longmont, Colo., where he lived until 1996 and then moved to Pueblo, where he lived until his death. Private services were held. The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Parkinson's Disease Association through the funeral home
