Michael Steven Thorpe, 50, of Pueblo, Colo., went to be with the Lord on Sept. 12, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Michael is survived by his wife, Debra; his children from previous marriages, Cory Thorpe, Keri Thorpe, Kristine (Chris) Bainbridge, Katie Thorpe, Cody Thorpe, all of Salida, Colo., and Tyler Thorpe of Pennsylvania; and his step-children, Clay (Kasey) Ogden and Christina Ogden also of Salida. He is also survived by his parents, Neil and Reva Thorpe of Cañon City, Colo; brother, John (Patsy) Thorpe of Franklin, Nebraska; sister, Joanna (Robert) Rich of Salida; and sister, Sharon Gray of Grand Junction, Colo. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by step-daughter, Anna Ogden, Feb. 1, 2004. He was the proud grandfather of grandson, Christopher Thomas Bainbridge, II; granddaughter, Karli Kristine Bainbridge of Salida; and step-grandsons, Chance and Blake Ogden of Salida, and Isaiah Wait of Bellingham, Washington. Michael graduated from Salida High School in June 1975. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Navy. He traveled extensively, visiting Italy, Spain, France and England, to name a few. His love of travel lasted his entire lifetime. He made yearly visits to New Orleans for the 'Mardi Gras' and to Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colo., where he enjoyed hiking, fishing and elk viewing. At Michael's request, there will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Sonrise Church, 421 East Spaulding, in Pueblo West, Colo., with the Rev. Dave York officiating.
