Michael Scarafiotti, 84, passed away June 8, 2001, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Walsenburg, Colorado. Michael was born April 4, 1917, in Dawson, New Mexico to John and Pasqualina ‘Lena’
(maiden name: Cha) Scarafiotti. He grew
up in Aguilar, Colorado, attending Aguilar Public Schools. Mike served in the U.S. Army during World War II, both in the South Pacific and Europe. He married Julia (maiden name: Pasquin)
Scarafiotti on August 15, 1944. Mike, a
well-known Aguilar businessman, was also very active in local government and civic activities. He was a member of the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fraternal Order of Italians, a former Aguilar town council member,
and he served on many advisory boards,
including Mt. San Rafael Hospital and St.
Anthony’s Parish. Mike is survived by
Julia Scarafiotti, his wife of 57 years;
daughter Carol (Gene Severino) Scarafiotti of Phoenix, Arizona; son, John Scarafiotti of Livermore, California; grandson, John Christopher Scarafiotti, also of Livermore; and sisters, Jeanna Reeves of Aguilar and Mary Fox of
Chevy Chase, Maryland. Rosary service
for Mike will begin at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Aguilar, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.Pallbearers are Joe Arnone, Gary Ringo, Gene
Benine, Mario Arnone, Ken Reeves and Bill Tilley. Honorary Pallbearers are Dave Wilson, Joe Arnone, Jr., Paul Dosen , Joe Dosen, Mike Riggio, Bill Johnson, Ronnie Vigil, Tom Monarco, and Frank Montero. Military Honors and interment with Rite of Committal will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, in Aguilar, following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests
donations to APEA’s Educational Progress
