Merritt C. Cushing, 87, passed away November 17, 2016. Survived by his wife, Marion; son, Douglas (Mary); daughter, Stacy (Brian) McClure; grandchildren, Melissa and Clayton Cushing; brother, Ellsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marian; and brother, Donald. Merritt was born to Susan E. and Clare H. Cushing on April 7, 1929, in Lincoln, Neb. He moved to Pueblo in 1965, to head the Spanish Peaks Mental Health Center. He entered into private practice in 1985 in clinical psychology with Steve Bonny. Merritt enjoyed skiing, golfing, fishing, playing bridge, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Colorado Psychological Association and American Psychological Association. Memorial service, 1:30 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, 220 W. 10th Street. Memorials may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.   1. I met Dr. Cushing when I worked at the health department. He was one of the kindest and nicest men you could know. Whenever I would meet up with him, again very kind. A true gentleman. My sincere condolences to the family.

  2. Barb and I were sorry to hear of the loss. I enjoyed playing golf with Merritt and our Kiwanis connection. He will be deeply missed, We are in Texas until the last of the month so will not be able to attend the service, but will be thinking of the family.

  3. I have so many fond memories of Merritt. He was a kind and generous man who was soft spoken and thoughtful. Deepest condolences to friends and family.
