Mary Louise Medill, 96, of Rye, Colo. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 18, 2018. She was born in Pueblo, Colo. on Dec. 15, 1921, the eldest of three daughters and one son born to S.C. and Nellie (Keele) Sikes. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 63 years, Kenneth Wesley Medill; sister, Betty Jones; parents-in-law, Ralph and Katie Medill; brothers-in-law, Doug Jones, Wayne Branyan, Earl Medill and Harold Medill; sisters-in-law, Caroline Sikes and Ruth Medill; and infant grandson, Jeffrey Edmundson. Survived by her children, Kenneth (Patty) Medill of Tulsa, Okla., Katherine (Lewis) Edmundson of Walsenburg, Larry (Melissa) Medill of Rye and Leonard (Becky) Medill of Bixby, Okla.; sister, Ruth Branyan of Stockton, Calif; brother, Jack Sikes of Pueblo; brother-in-law, Harlow (Janice) Medill of Fruita, Colo; sister-in-law, Diane Medill of Delta, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mary Louise was a lifelong resident of the Greenhorn Valley. She graduated from Rye High School in 1939, attended Colorado State University for two years and later earned a bachelors degree from Southern Colorado State College in 1967. She taught chemistry and math at Rye High School for 20 years and was also certified as the school librarian for a number of years before her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Rye Home Methodist Church. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Rye Home United Methodist Church, 2063 Main St. Interment, Brookside Cemetery in Rye. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary Louise's name to Rye Home United Methodist Church, PO Box 70, Rye, CO 81069 or Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.   3. I first remember Mrs. Medill from Sunday School at the Rye Home Methodist Church where she played the piano while we little kids sang. A lovely person. My condolences to all of her family.
