Mary Kathleen Strawn, 68, sadly passed away on August 28, 2022 after a short hospital stay. Mary was born in Fort Stockton, Texas to Benjamin Douglas and Mary Lucille (Starbuck) Strawn on November 20, 1953. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver, CO and Colorado Institute of Art.

Mary worked many years as a volunteer coordinator at Children’s Hospital in Denver. She later worked for an oil company as a fleet gas sales manager that gave her the opportunity to live in Michigan, Arkansas, Arizona, and Maine. Mary loved Maine and lived there for many years, even after changing careers and opening a dog kennel business. She was an avid New England Patriots fan and carried her devotion back to Colorado. Mary loved dogs and volunteered for pet rescue projects and a donation center that supported rescued pets awaiting new homes. While in Maine, Mary fostered a special needs girl for a while. Mary also loved Ireland and enjoyed its music at Irish pubs in the states.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Douglas Strawn and Mary Lucille Starbuck Strawn, and brother, Scott Christopher Strawn. She is survived by three siblings: Patricia Kaltneckar of Pueblo West, CO; Erin (Ray) Bousselaire of Amarillo, TX; and Randall Strawn of Golden, CO. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Lauraleigh (Raja) Ananda, Cristin (Martijn) Bruggeman, Jason (Karlena) Bousselaire, Mark (Jessica) Bousselaire, Sarah Bousselaire, Joshua (Jodi) Strawn, Jeremy (Betsey) Strawn, and Jessica (Mark) Bousselaire. Mary is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews: Sorin and Sereia Ananda; Rena, Roxanne, Valerie, and Victoria Bruggeman; Jayden and Mikayla Bousselaire; Connor Bousselaire; Benjamin and Abbigail Strawn; Liam and Mila Strawn; and Brianna, Zachary, and Faith Bousselaire.

Mary had a close fellowship with her church community and spread her New England Patriots pride all year long to all of the Broncos fans. She was a happy person and brought joy to her many friends.

  1. CandleImageSo sorry to be seeing this just now after over a year. I was just wondering why I haven’t heard from her. She was a very nice person to me and my dogs here in Maine.
I’m feel bad I didn’t even know she was sick. She never mentioned it when I talked to her last, she only mentioned she was trying to move back to Maine and she was so excited about that.
My sincere condolences to her family.
