Mary Ellen Hopper, 76, passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2018, in her home town of Pueblo, Colorado. Mary Ellen was born on July 30, 1942, in Canon City, Colorado to Joseph D. and Alma Ellen (Kibel) Hopper, both deceased. Out of 5 siblings, she is survived only by brother, Kenneth Hopper. Preceded in death are brothers, Frank and Joseph Jr. Hopper; and sister, Hellen Lavon White. Mary Ellen never married, but was blessed with 6 nephews and nieces, and 9 grandchildren from her brothers and sister. In addition, her mother came from a large family of Kibels, and had a strong family tie to her life.
Mary Ellen worked at downtown Woolworths for many years, until closing. Then worked at Pueblo Blueprint where she eventually became a part owner. Mary Ellen was active with the Pueblo Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, served as Chapter President, and was honored as Woman Of The Year during her career.
At an early age, she was associated with the social fraternity of Odd Fellows and Rebekah's through her parents and continued with the group until her passing. She served as an officer of the group most of the time, having gone through all the chairs of the organization.
Service will be held at Montgomery & Steward Chapel, 1317 North Main, Pueblo, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 2:00 pm. Mary Ellen was a registered donor, and did contribute to that cause, followed by cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Her remains will rest next to her parents at Mountain View Cemetery. Mary Ellen was a member of Pueblo Chapter Eastern Star and will be
greatly missed. We were honored to know her and her mother.
