Mary Ellen Francis Brown, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in Pueblo, Colo. Born May 2, 1923, in Brookfield, Missouri; she was the daughter of the late Claud V. and Marie E. Lillian Francis. Her father owned and operated the Francis Ice Cream Company in Bessemer. She was a 1941 graduate of Central High School in Pueblo and a 1945 graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Mary Ellen retired from School District 60 as a Consumer Sciences teacher in 1982 after 18 years. Member of PEO, Chapter BT. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Wesley R. Brown; sons, Leslie F. Brown of Kalispell, Mont. and Gerald D. Brown of Imperial, Penn.; daughter, Beverly G. Catalano of Cheyenne, Wyo.; six grandsons; and her older sister, Doris F. Brownlee of Salisbury, NC. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by her brothers, Claud V. Jr., Elmer Wesley, Chester Linn, and Charles Lee; and sisters, Lillian L. Anderson and Martha Jane Francis. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 University Cir., with the Reverend Robert Mace officiating.
