Margaret Louise Gomez

Margaret L. Gomez, 69, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away Oct. 10, 2006, after a lengthy illness of four years. Survived by her children, Judy (Paul) Elder of Aurora, Colo. and Glenn (Angela) Gomez of Pueblo; siblings, James M. Hawks of San Diego, Calif., Madelyn Gallegos of Denver and Dr. Sally Fabec of Trinidad, Colo.; grandchildren, Ryan Gomez, Andrea Gomez, Matthew Elder, Andrew Elder, Mary Beth Elder, Brandy Gomez, Gary Gomez Jr. and Brian Gomez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Preceded in death by her son, Gary Gomez; parents, Charles and Thelma Hawks; and brother, William Stephens. Margaret was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Jansen, Colo. She was an elementary school teacher with Pueblo School Dist. No. 60 for 34 years. After retirement, she helped her sister, Dr. Sally Fabec in her medical practice. Margaret enjoyed working with children, cooking and sewing and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Viewing from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Rosary, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006. Both services at St. Francis Xavier Church, 611 Logan, with the Rev. Fr. Uju Patrick Okeahialam as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
