Margaret Alvis

Margaret 'Marge' Alvis, 75, of Westcliffe, Colo, passed away Oct. 19, 2008, at a hospital in Pueblo, Colo. Preceded in death by her Husband, Robert Alvis in 2002; and son, Christopher Alvis in 1979. Survived by her daughter, Michelle (Barry) Gindlesperger of Westcliffe; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Cauldino of Visalia, Calif. Marge was born to George and Evelyn Claudino on Aug. 8, 1933, in Bakersfield, Calif. Marge was happiest when she was helping others. While in Westcliffe, Marge was always seen about town running errands for residents in her apartment complex or assisting Julie at the Mane Attraction. Prior to moving to Westcliffe, Marge was in charge of the Cantina at a baseball complex in Valencia, Calif., for ten years. She ran her first Cantina in Tehran, Iran, when she and her family lived there for seven years. Her husband was transferred there when he worked for Atlantic Richfield. Her husband started a baseball league for the American children that lived near them, and kept them close to the game they loved. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial Mass, 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008, at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 109 S. 5th Street, Wescliffe, Colo., with Father Vincent Paz en la Casa as celebrant.
