M.H. 'Jack' Gwartney, 87, passed away May 17, 2007. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Lenore 'Ruth' Gwartney; children, Jack A. (Norma) Gwartney, Richard Lewis (Sandra) Gwartney and David Robert Gwartney; grandchildren, Leslie (Ted) Shepard, Todd (Kristine) Gwartney, Ricki Lee (David) Uphoff and Scott (Shannon) Gwartney; and great-grandchildren, Conner Shepard, Parker Uphoff and Benjamin Gwartney. Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ottie Gwartney; sister, Laura Madeline Gwartney; and brothers, Ira Allen Gwartney and Oscar Warren Gwartney. Jack was born May 8, 1920, in Mayes County, Okla. He worked for Broad Acres as a youth, 40 plus years at CF&I and 15 plus years as a ditch rider for Huerfano and Cuchara Ditch Company . There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Reverend Melinda Baber officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives in the Montgomery & Steward Banquet Hall following the service.
