Lydia (Sherman) Wood, 92, passed away peacefully on Dec. 4. 2020, in Pueblo, Colo. The 12th of 13 children born to Henry and Mary Scheuermann, Lydia was born on Aug. 14, 1928, in Edenville, N.Y. Lydia (Aunt Honey) is survived by her sister, Dorothy Delillo; sister-in-law, Jean (Alex) Sherman both of Middletown, N.Y.; her children Kathleen Parga of Pueblo and Raymond (Jody) Wood of Naperville, Ill.; grandchildren, Seth Wood (Jenna Gelso), Alyssa Parga (Greg Rodriguez), and Kelly (Curtis) Restko; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Dylan Restko and Oliver Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Wood; and 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Although her memory continued to fail her in the past several years of her life she remembered with great pleasure and clarity the countless experiences and joy she had as a child growing up in such a large family and the bond she had with each of her siblings, their spouses and families. Family was everything to Lydia. Outside the home, Lydia worked for and retired from the Times Herald Record and was a member of St. Johns Lutheran church in Middletown, New York, where she was involved in many activities throughout the years. Due to current restrictions and limitations on gatherings, no funeral services will be planned at this time; however, a celebration of her life will be held in Middletown at a future date followed by interment in the Wallkill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 391 Mt. Hope Road, Middletown, N.Y. 10940. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com
