Lucille Blake, 98, passed away June 21, 2016. Survived by her children, Donna Jo (Aaron Gordon) Blake, M.D. of Durango and John (Cindy) Blake of Beulah; grandsons, Joshua Gordon-Blake and Jesse Gordon-Blake, both of Chicago, Ill. Preceded in death by her husband, Marvin A. Blake; sister, Ernest Lee Johnston; brother-in-law, Edgar Johnston; and nephew, Ed Douglas Johnston. Lucille was born to Eddie and Josie Lee Freeland on Oct. 3, 1917, in White, Ark. Graduate of Crossett High School in Crossett, Ark., Parkland Hospital School of Nursing in Dallas, Texas and Baylor University Hospital School of Anesthesia in Dallas, Texas. She worked 10 years at Dallas Parkland Hospital and married Marvin Blake in 1940. In 1948, Lucille and Marvin moved to Pueblo where she worked as a nurse anesthetist at all three hospitals, retiring from Colorado State Hospital in 1979. Lucille was an active member of First Baptist Church for 60 years and Christian Challengers Sunday School for 55 years. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N.
